The bead featured below was made (and shot) at an Amy Waldman Smith class that I took at the Toledo Museum of Glass in 2013. As such I thought this would be a fitting illustration for stuff made (or at least written about) during that year.

This is probably my favorite bead that I made in the class, or close to it; but it's a dismal failure of the technique, which is working ultra-slow and ultra-cold. My thumb joints are just not up for that extended, slow continuous mandrel turning, so I suck at precision dot work, of which her techniques are a variation. This bead was worked pretty hot, and the ivory started doing its flowy subductive thing, making those marvelous organic patterns.
