I loved the colour scheme of this necklace, and wanted to do another in the series (especially after buying some more fun beads in the colourway) but needed to make a good-looking focal to take the place of the bead woven spike in the original. So I started making some medium sized pressed lentils featuring olive and black with gold leaf as samples, which in turn were converted into mice. This one, with a black and white flower, while not precisely what I'm looking for, is currently my fave.
I haven't yet made a bead I feel suitable for the necklace, but I strung a couple of the samples into mice, as frex here. In addition to the lampwork sample, there are some olive lampwork beads with ivory, black and green dots, plus a stone bird, which of course calls for a matching cathead bead on the other dangle, a little bit of stringing humour that goes back nearly 20 years.
