Here are two images shot roughly 10 minutes apart, with different lenses ,of peonies towards the end of the seaon, the year I got my Sony, which I celebrated by taking lots of pictures[1]
Sony ILCE-7C, tamron70–180mm Di III VXD, 13jaun2021 0730 f/2.8, ev -0.7, 180mm 1/400s, ISO 100, WB: shade; cropped and scaled with gimp
I usually go for the lovely razor sharpness (& easier manual focus) the sony macro lens provides, but the above, shot with tamron, still has nice focus on the top flower's upper petal dew.
13jaun2021 07:41, Sony ILCE-7C, sony 90mm macro f/2.8, 1/320s, ISO 100, ev -1.0, WB: daylight; cropped and scaled with gimp
Honestly, the white balance in the first photo is truer to life, but I like the blue cast in the second, so I left it. In this image, the lower flower, its petaloids and the leaf outlines in particular are sharp, instead of the dew on the upper flower.
I like both images, but have a slight preference for the second, possibly because the sharpened calyx? leaves frame the upper flower, meaning there are more secondary foci to frame the overall image.
[1]mostly still undocumented, but I did make at least one other page from this series of photos .
