Love blocked
mixed media featuring a wine bottle label

This is the decoration of an envelope back sent to a sibling who likes blue. And I did try to use blue, but I also had this loveblock wine bottle sticker (the sibling will drink wine with dinner, and it was a pretty label) that is more my preferred colour scheme, ivory and sour (yellow) greens. My other goal was to use up assorted stuff lying about so I could clear off the desk(s) to have a clean surface for tax prep.

vintage envelope, wine bottle label, washi tape, assorted scrapbook papers, calligraphy, envelope patterns, candy wrapper, glossby box, and paint chip papers, markers, glue...27jan2025. 4-3/8" x 6-1/8" (approx 11x17cm); sony ILCE-7C, 90mm sony macro; rotated, cropped, lightened in gimp.

Ha.

Adding blue and using only scraps from prior projects turned out to be incompatible, as I ended up pulling some scrapbooking papers (given me by the same sibling:) into the mix. More mess than ever.

Now that I have new punches, I'm really enjoying using those—they make commercially printed stuff a whole lot easier to use because the graphic quality of the punched shape overrides the interior patterns. I'm especially enjoying punching out ‘half’ colourations, in part of the top layer of paper is torn away—the black, white and grey flower in the upper left is a good example of this effect.

As soon as I figure out where to put them, I'm sure I'll buy more paper punches:)

Once again thanks not only go to the sibling who gave me the first batch of punches and blue-violet scrapbooking paper, but also to the wizard who kindly removes labels for me:) –The washi tape was a gift from f2tE, and I'm enjoying the retro iconography and bright yellow a lot more than I thought I would:)
