I'm sure it was some cyclist who claimed riding a bicycle was the best way to scope out a neighborhood before moving there; and certainly I've seen some wonderful examples of local architecture while riding around. I've taken a few, and have been meaning to make more of an effort to document them for a while now. Last week I posted the very first batch of pix that could be considered architectural (though the post was mostly about a bike ride); now, I've created a directory and everything, and so I guess this is my first official post on the topic.
And what a wonderful example I've got—lovely, lovely purple, elegantly paired with grey.
The remainder of these pictures were taken on the historic home tour last September, though this particular house didn't happened to be featured that year.
Another angle, showing a public (street) side. The image doesn't really do the bracketing and first floor trim justice.
So if you ever find yourself fortunate to be driving (or, better yet, cycling or walking:) on Cross in eastern Ypsilanti, keep an eye out for this jewel.
