Take a Bead
And make 7 variations on it...

I told the exchange co-ordinator that I was terrible at sculptural, which is true and that I didn't really care for it, which was not quite true: I've not at all got the sense of humor to enjoy doing humorous Sharon-Peters style figures, but other types of sculptural stuff appeals just fine, and I love flowers of all types.

So I found appealing the floral quality the bead she sent me as inspiration, even though transparent striking yellow (as opposed to the amber family) is a color I barely use—till this exercise, I've probably not used an entire rod of transparent yellow in the 8-odd years I've been flameworking.

Transparent yellow boils like anything, by the way.

Fortunately, being a bit of a completist, I have at least one rod of every standard color Effetre makes so I was able to work on the exercise:

l–r: original Sadie bead; first, second and third efforts to copy. N.b. all rights reserved on Sadie's bead.

Besides boiling the yellow like crazy, my petals remained uneven, and flattened, instead of slightly cupped. Ah well.

Next time: I begin my variations.
