more scraps used up...

This piece started out as another piece of applique from the 2006 series I mentioned last time. Like the other pieces in the series, it includes a piece of scrap silk from my 2004 trip to Viet Nam, animal prints—leopard instead of tiger, this time—and fancy brocade ribbon scraps.

In order to extend the size of the decorations, I added some garnet lace and pink net, more recently acquired bits.

The goal with this piece was to practice machine sewing both the lining and outside fabric when inserting zippers. Without raw edges, at which I failed:

interior, with hong-kong (sort of) seam finishes on the ends of the lining.
