This latest flower came out of a batch of seed beads given me that included a mixed batch of aqua beads carefully wrapped around an old 3.5 floppy disk, from a woman who had died. I didn't feel like sorting the beads—some of which have really lovely finishes, by the way—so I transferred them to wire to make french beaded flowers. As it happens, my sister-in-law adores these things, and this color combo, so they're obviously the perfect gift for her.
French beaded flower in aqua and navy delica, seed, rocaille and bugle beads. Completed week of, & photographed the morning on 12apr14. I had some sunshine slanting in from the left, which I thought lent a nice effect, so I incorporated it into the lighting. Shot with the lensbaby, mid-range depth of focus.
The one pictured below was intended as a 2013 xmas gift, but I completely lost track of it, after photographing it and putting it in a decorated (i.e. wrapped but openable) shoe box. F2tY had also wrapped a bunch of doodads—gifts from Japan—that were intended to be (slightly) late xmas gifts. We knew the box was for SiL, but until she opened it (in April!) and pulled out the flower, both f2tY and I had forgotten this was a gift from me and not her.
One of the techniques I was playing around with this flower was a really tiny beginning, just one bead, which makes a really round petal.
As I've said repeatedly, here is a reason I like to document this stuff.[1]
