Colorado Trip
visiting Tech:
Post trip notes!
Ioniq:
- got a late(r) start departing, 12v battery was flat (evidently car doesn't perfectly track its state of charge?)
- 1st, R had to replace batteries in multimeter
- 2 days travel, arriving rather late, both to campground on night 1 (halfway pt) & to Tech's night 2 (10pm)
- then...car failed to fast-charge properly
- part of the tranche from late 2024–early 2025 hiccups at new GA factory, battery cells don't balance properly for fast charge
- so...we did not leave 9monday; spent 2 days waiting to for dealer (in CO) to get back to us, & then let us know status (which Rob guessed from youtuber having similar problems/diagnostics from the car)
- new batteries made to order, takes up to 6 weeks
- Sonata mostly not as nice as the Ioniq, but Rob now determined to hack/disable broken eye-tracking
Actual travel:
- Originally scheduled mon 2feb – mon 9feb (2 days travel each way, 4 days visit)
- extended travel to 5 days, scheduled to depart 09feb, arrive 10feb
- had to rent a car (a hyundai sonata, actually), departed thurs 12feb, arrive home in time to return rental to airport (took about 1 hr to unload & vacuum)
