Just to change things up a bit, our guild decided to exchange holiday ornaments instead of beads at its 2019 December party. Since my friend Page was accompanying me at the last minute, I wrapped up two ornaments—an old blown one made of boro, with scrolling; and a quite new one, a twistie in red and green.
This meant we could both participate in the exchange. I wasn't actually that excited about getting an ornament, because my tree is exclusively silver and white, and what would the chances be of getting an ornament in that colour scheme?[1] —As with the last time I had a lackadaisical attitude towards drawing a number out of a hat, I got #1.

Since I was pretty sure no matter what ornament I picked, I wasn't gonna get what I wanted, I traded numbers with Page, on the theory that she would enjoy first pick. By the time #11 came up, likely more than half the choices were gone; but there was a plain silver box, and without much hope that the contents would match,[2] I chose that one.
And wow, I got exactly what I wanted! I'm so pleased that Dawn brought this lovely ornament to our exchange.
[1]It's been silver and white since I had my own, which is to say 30 years, so no, I'm not planning on changing it, either. I do have a purple and green studio tree, and a mixed-smaltzy tree, the latter of which is stuffed full of ornaments, most of which are childhood mementos, not modern acquisitions.
[2]Which just goes to show that old adage about not trying too hard...
