Specifically, this braid is made of hand-painted #20 crochet cotton almost certainly dyed Pam Porter of Keltic Krafts and purchased from a shop long since out of business. Since it's explicitly guaranteed not colorfast, and snarled and overtwisted something awful, I can't say I'm sorry to have finished it. Overall, the dye job is of significantly better quality than the commercially produced lizbeth stuff—no white or underdyed sections at all.
I started this braid to use in an omiyagi for JDftY3’s okaasan, warping enough thread for both the necklace and a draw-string bag to store it in. Alas, the bag remains in pieces, waiting to be sewn up, but I did finally finish the braid, shown here.
