Jewelweed,
aka touch-me-not
This is a serviceable pencil sketch of a native midwestern wildflower, Impatiens capensis, ‘touch-me-not’, also called (orange) jewelweed; I have the slightly less common I pallida, or yellow jewelweed, growing in the shady parts of my backyard; a volunteer, like the frog in the nearby pond I have not, so far, managed to photograph this year.

graphite sketch with watercolour; Japanese sketchbook, approx 6x9" 15July2025, PP6; colour adjustment (lightened) & slight cropping gimp
From my point of view, its major claim to fame is that it is both found in shade and blooms relatively late in the year.
