F2tE and I visited a mutual friend in NYC, and the big goal was to check out the Cloisters, which providentially was having an exhibit on sex and gender in the middle ages, though f2tE actually focused more on medieval depictions of dogs and other critturs.
Map of the Met's Cloisters decorated with ephemera, watercolour; each fold, 5.5 x 8.5", front and back shown
Frances had been kind enough to give me some very premium ephemera, which I used to decorate the map of the cloisters—which is, in fact, supposed to replicate a real cloister (it's made from bits of some, iirc), and as such, is a bit of a maze, so I appreciated absolutely needed a map[1]
Most of the mixed media journal pages I've been creating start with a piece of printer paper (usually with some printing) 8.5 x 11, folded in half, and as it turns out, the fan-folded map reduces to this size also; I liked the graphic design, and though it would make a suitable addition to the mixed media journal pages I intend to bind together some day, so I decorated the cover and back page to make it blend in a bit more cohesively, helped considerably by ephemera from Fran that worked perfectly with this colour scheme and iconography.
