Like the pi sample strand referenced yesterday, I bought this sample pack at Gathering. All of these rods had stickers on them, so the numbers, provided I didn't make any transcription errors, should be good.
Evidently I was too lazy to write comments out for this glass, or maybe I didn't bother because the company is established; up till now, I've encountered uroboros as a 104coe substrate for dichro, and I like it better than the effetre, cuz it's thinner and boils less—thus I was predisposed to feel this would be a good product. The pi folks, since they were just starting to sell lampwork rods, were actually interested in my feedback. All in all I would say the uroboros color spread is a little broader, though my overall inclination was that between the two of them, pi and uroboros 96 almost made one decent colorway.
Some very nice luscious greens and blues, reminiscent of czech colors. They'll look even more luscious once I clean all that release out of them.
Part of the reason I've been so laggard experimenting with these is that I was unable to get any clear, which I wanted in order to test the 7000/8000 thompson enamels, and also for cross-checking compatibility. Given that pi is no longer available, I'm not certain how much effort I want to put in these tests.
But I enjoy making sample strands, and I think they're kinda fun, hanging on the wall. It's that old inclination to put beads into chromatic sequence, I guess.
