I often find ribbons with bold designs, such as contrasty stripes like the ones featured here, difficult to use, because they either fight with the wrapping paper or get lost in its designs; but a plain white box makes an ideal backdrop for all that busy-ness, so I was able to lean into it, with four different kinds of stripes, not to mention polka dots and vintage-y bows and mistletoe in one bow, and Merry Xmas curling ribbon.
ribbon, bows, snowflake on plain white box, photographed 25dec2022; sony ILCE-7C, sony 90mm macro: f/3.5, ev +0.7 (not enough), 1/500s, ISO 100, WB: cloudy cropped & lightened in gimp
I particularly like the contrast of the green/red/white (with a touch of gold!) dark striping in the bigger bow versus the lighter overall value in the red and white striped ribbons.
Since I photographed this on xmas day (like, shortly before opening) I took advantage of the snow (which made travelling to the family destination a tad hazardous. Otoh, we didn't leave till xmas eve, by which time everyone else had transferred out of the first rental with the frozen toilets to something a bit cozier;)
