Before I saw these, I'd never seen swallowtails in my gardens; and I had several all in one day. My daughter came and got me over the course of the day. I'm not certain why the flowers were so especially attractive then, or why they failed to attract these beautiful insects the following year.

Maybe to make me appreciate their serendipitious nature.
