Raspberry Candy
joins my other two fancy eyed daylilies

I am not a subtle person, and so daylilies with strong markings (eyes) are among my favourites.

I don't know that this cultivar is raspberry candy, but it sure looks like it. It's a gift from my friend Page, and as I love the ones with eyes, I was very happy to see it bloom in my garden:)

It joins Storm Shelter & Stolen Treasure—my trio of eyed “fancy” daylilies. Raspberry Candy is from 1992, which makes sense, since ISTR it was part of a package of several, which tend to be older.[1] Up to the minute cultivars, OTOH, are to my eyes almost unrecognizable as hemerocallis, besides being very expensive and fragile. I like the older ones, as the hard-to-grow failures have had more of a chance to be winnowed out.

And here it's shot with my phone, looking much the same, except without bokeh: but it's easier to send pix to Page this way;)

[1]In fact, it's older than Storm Shelter, which is an Emmerich from 2006 and is roughly the same vintage as Stolen Treasures, which was registered in 1996.
