Early Beaded Embroidery, Or
The pins that Never Were.
When I started Rejiquar Works in 1987 (or 88) I'd originally envisioned myself doing textiles and beadwork. By the second batch of business cards, though, the textile part had gone by the wayside. Since then I've snuck some textiles back in, sort of—beadweaving is technically the textile, and kumi is purely thread. Some day, though, I'd like to start incorporating embroidery back into my work.
In the meantime, all that remains of that early plan to sell textile based adornments are these samples, unfinished pins incorporating beads and embroidery.
Glass, cotton, synthetic fabric. 1987 or 1988. Unfinished. Collection of the artist.
