Though this certainly a sketchbook drawing, its well defined subject matter, technique (cross-hatching) and lack of background make it closer to the botanical illustration tradition than the stuff I've been calling doodles.

That said, botanical drawings are supposed to represent real specimens, and though my observations of living flowers certainly had an impact on this drawing, these fantasy flowers can probably best be characterized as a sort of zinnia center with compositae type outer petals (called rays)—the sort of thing that coneflowers, sunflowers, and daisies make, albeit with a more slender aspect ratio. Probably the closest real flower they resemble are those multiple/fuzzy coneflower cultivars (e.g. razzmatazz); these plants also have more-or-less heart shaped leaves.
Drawing the folds in the rays was definitely the most interesting bit.
