This is the second in a series of watercolour still lifes I made, enhanced with graphic elements. Originally, (iirc, it's been a month) I think this was had a bit of technical pen cross hatching in the shadows, and markers on the orange peel (in brown).

Since I signed the second date in turquoise, that suggests that I added cross-hatching in the red, cobalt and turquoise at the later date. How much of the red and blue doodle (abstract) elements got added later isn't something I documented, but I know a fair amount got added in later. As you see, the markers are somewhat water soluable (some more than others) which I used to my advantage in softening and blending some of the lines.

Contrasting the linear, geometric elements on the left are more curvilinear doodles edging all the way into henna-inspired elements of flowers and leaves, with the traditional Japanese ‘flax’ pattern balancing them on the right.
